Rob has been involved in the renovation, repair and construction fields his whole life.
“I started pretty early in life in what was to become my career. My father was building an actual airplane (yes, the kind you get in and fly) while I was growing up in Dayton, Ohio. I was always interested in what he was doing, and I was able to help with many of the assemblies of the plane. I found it fascinating!
“At age of 14 I got a job at a local Gas Station/Cab Company, which required that I learn how to work on and fix cars. There was a pattern developing.
“My first ‘real’ job was at the Ponderosa Steakhouse in Fairfield, Ohio. I started as a dishwasher, but quickly worked up the ranks until I was the District Maintenance Technician, responsible for 33 restaurants across the state. Later I went into restaurant management for more than 30 years, saving money and solving problems for the company across many areas.
“During this time I owned three different houses, all of which I remodeled to varying degrees, including new kitchens, bathrooms, moving walls, tile, plumbing and more. If it needed to be done, I figured out how to do it — and there was no YouTube back then!
“Several years ago, I decided it was time to reevaluate what I was doing, and for whom. My family kept telling me: “You know how to do just about anything! You should start a handyman business!” The difference between me and the average ‘handyman’ is that when I do work, I’m in the HABIT of doing it like it’s MY house, because that’s how it’s always been. Because of the breadth of my experience, I can think of ways to solve a myriad of problems.
